DISCOVERING CASTELLÓN: THE GREEN ROUTE BETWEEN BENICASSIM AND OREPESA

Contact with nature is one of the great attractions of the holiday. And Castellon has large spaces where you can have a pleasant experience while walking through places where you can feel the peace and tranquility that emanates from it. The Green Route that links Benicassim and Oropesa is one of those corners, ideal for walking or bikeing, between the beautiful Mediterranean sea and the mountains.

Benicassim is just a few kilometers from the Hotel del Golf Playa – Castellón, and you can get to the town with one of the bikes that the hotel has for rent. It is north from there where the route starts.

The tour begins through small tunnels made in stone, and continues by Les Playetes and Torre Bellver urbanizations. Then continue down the trench of the ancient rail linking the capital of la Plana to Barcelona that it was abandoned with the new railway line.

In no time we’ll arrive to the Tower Colomera, which is one of the watchtowers that warned the interior inhabitants the arrival of the Barbary pirates and coordinated the defense of the Castellon coast. Passing the tower is the La Renegà area, the sharpest of the route, although the road is conditioned to be crossed without a problem.

Afterwards is an 800 meters long tunnel to be crossed, conditioned with automatic lighting system, which leads to the marina of Oropesa, and finally a small park next to La Concha Beach, in Oropesa. It is 5.6 kilometers long route along the coast that lets you enjoy the contact with nature, the sea and the healthy sport.
